Housing at Heaton Court
Heaton Court offers quality, affordable independent living in the peaceful country setting of the beautiful Berkshires. To be eligible for housing at Heaton Court, applicants must be 60 years of age or older or disabled under 60 and meet additional eligibility criteria. Applicant's annual gross income cannot exceed $45,100 for a single person, $51,500 for a couple. Rent equals 30% of the resident's monthly gross income minus annualized IRS-allowable medical deductions, and includes heat, hot water, and electric. There are 50 one-bedroom apartments and 1 two-bedroom apartment at Heaton Court, and there is a waiting list in place. Stockbridge residents receive preference on the waiting list. Section 8 Rental Assistance
Stockbridge Housing Authority administers 41 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers in southern Berkshire County. SHA belongs to the Massachusetts Centralized Waiting List along with 80+ other housing authorities, and gives preference on the waiting list to applicants that live or work in southern Berkshire County (towns south of Pittsfield), are of very low income, are working or disabled, or are 62 years of age or older. Preference is also given to the homeless of southern Berkshire County and residents of southern Berkshire County with a terminal illness. SHA Board of Commissioners
Regular meetings of the SHA Board of Commissioners are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at Heaton Court. If any meeting is cancelled, it will be posted here with no less than 48 hours notice.
